Reporting Claims of Copyright Infringement
Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (“AJSOCAL”) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the “DCMA”), the text of which may be found on the U.S. Copyright Office website at https://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf, AJSOCAL will promptly respond to claims of copyright infringement committed using the AJSOCAL service and/or the AJSOCAL website (the “Website”) if such claims are reported to AJSOCAL.
If you are a copyright owner, authorized to act on behalf of one, or authorized to act under any exclusive right under copyright, please report alleged copyright infringements taking place on or through the Website to our Communications Department, following the requirements listed below under the section heading “Instructions for Submitting a DMCA Notice of Alleged Infringement.”
Upon receipt of notice as described below, AJSOCAL will take whatever action, in its sole discretion, it deems appropriate, including removal of the challenged content.
Instructions for Submitting a DMCA Notice of Alleged Infringement
- Identify the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed, or if multiple copyrighted works are covered by this notice, you may provide a representative list of the copyrighted works that you claim have been infringed.
- Identify the material or link you claim is infringing (or the subject of infringing activity) and to which access is to be disabled, including at a minimum, if applicable, the URL of the link shown or the exact location where such material may be found.
- Provide your company affiliation (if applicable), mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- Include both of the following statements in the body of the notice:
- “l hereby state that I have a good faith belief that the disputed use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law (e.g., As a fair use).”
- “l hereby state that the information in this notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of, the owner, of the copyright or of an exclusive right under the copyright that is allegedly infringed.”
- Provide your full legal name, and your electronic or physical signature.

Instructions for Submitting a DMCA Counter-Notice
If it is not possible to come to an agreement with the reporting copyright owner, the content owner may submit a DMCA counter-notice to our Communications Department within ten (10) business days of the date of our notice. If we receive a valid counter-complaint, we will email a copy of the notice to the copyright owner. The counter-notice is a legal document and must comply with the requirements of the DMCA and must include the following:
- Contact Information: Full legal name, physical address, email address, and phone number.
- Content Identification: A reasonable identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been blocked.
- Statement under Perjury: A statement under penalty of perjury that you have “a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled.”
- Consent to Jurisdiction: A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your provided address is located, or if your address is outside of the United States, for any judicial district in which AJSOCAL may be found.
- Consent to Service of Process: A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original DCMA notification or an agent of such person.
- Signature: An electronic or physical signature of the owner of the copyright or a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
